In Your Community

In the first 6 weeks of your baby’s life, your LMC Midwife will provide breastfeeding support and assistance to you. However, there is additional support you can access.

Breastfeeding Peer Supporters
provide mother to mother support in a caring and compassionate way to help you overcome common breastfeeding barriers and challenges.

Community Lactation Consultants (Charlotte Jean Maternity Hospital) Lactation consultants provide specialist help to mothers and babies where their main primary health provider has been unable. eg. Midwife, GP or Plunket Nurse. A free service for Central Otago and Upper Clutha. Phone: 027 3495473 Provided by Charlotte Jean Maternity Hospital, and funded by the Central Lakes Breastfeeding Charitable Trust.

Plunketline – A toll free telephone support and advice service 0800 933 922 at any time of day or night if you have questions about your baby.
